Terms, refunds and privacy

LOL (larporlegit.com) searches public sources about a handle, name, phone number, email or question, and grades whether the public claims hold up. Every verdict links to the sources it used.

A verdict is an automated reading of public information, not a statement of fact about anyone. Sources can be wrong, out of date, or about a different person with the same name, and the AI that reads them can make mistakes. Open the sources and verify anything that matters before you act on it.

LOL is not a background check or a consumer report. Don't use it to decide on anyone's employment, credit, housing, insurance or tenancy.

• Everyone gets 2 free checks every 24 hours. After that, a check uses one credit.
• Credits come in packs: 10 for $4.99, 30 for $9.99, 100 for $24.99. Prices are in US dollars and are charged once. There is no subscription.
• Credits never expire.
• You don't need an account to buy. Credits start out tied to the browser you bought them in. Save them to your email (no password, we send a sign-in link) and they're safe if you clear your cookies, and ready on any device.
• Lost access? Sign in with the email you saved them to, or email us from the address on your Stripe receipt.
• Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

• Failed and stopped checks are refunded automatically. If a check errors out on our side, or you stop it before the result arrives, the free check or credit it used goes straight back to your balance.
• Unused credits can be refunded within 30 days of purchase. Email support@larporlegit.com from the address on your Stripe receipt. We refund the unused credits from that pack at the price you paid per check, to your original payment method.
• A result that is clearly broken, like the wrong person entirely or a verdict with no sources, gets its credit back. Email us the subject you checked.
• A verdict you disagree with isn't a broken result. Every claim links to its sources so you can judge it yourself.
• Refunds usually reach you within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank. Please email us before disputing a charge with your bank: it's faster for you.

LOL is for checking claims people make in public. Don't use it to:

• find, track, stalk, harass or threaten anyone;
• work out who a private person is from their phone number or email;
• make employment, credit, housing, insurance or tenancy decisions;
• publish results to the wall to target or pile on someone;
• run checks by bot, or resell results.

We may block checks, remove wall entries, or stop serving anyone who uses LOL this way. Credits lost because of misuse aren't refunded.

A check stays private unless the person who ran it chooses Add to wall. Wall entries are public, and so are their up and down votes.

If you're the subject of a wall entry and it's wrong, out of date or about the wrong person, email support@larporlegit.com with a link to it and what's wrong. We review every request and remove or correct entries that don't hold up. You don't need to prove who you are to report an error.

We keep as little as the service needs to work:

• A random ID in a cookie, so we know how many free checks you have left and what your credit balance is. It isn't linked to your name.
• Your IP address, to enforce free-check limits and stop abuse. It's deleted after 2 days.
• What you check. A result you don't add to the wall is deleted after a day. One you add to the wall stays until it's removed.
• Your email, if you buy credits or sign in. Stripe shares the email you enter at checkout, and we use it only to sign you in, restore your credits and answer refund requests. We don't send newsletters.

To run a check, what you type is sent to our AI provider (DeepSeek) and our web search provider (Serper). Payments go through Stripe, and sign-in emails through Resend. We don't sell your data or run ads.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which features get used. It sets its own cookies. We never send it what you search for, only the type of check (a name, a handle, a number) and how it came out. An ad blocker or Google's opt-out add-on turns it off.

To have your purchase record and email deleted, email support@larporlegit.com. Any unused credits go with it.

• LOL is provided as is. We work to make verdicts accurate and sourced, but we don't guarantee that any result is complete, current or correct.
• As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for decisions made based on a result, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
• We may change these terms. If a change affects credits you've already bought, it won't take anything away from them. The date at the top shows the latest version.
